We went on a walk today with some friends. It was a much warmer day after the constant freezing temperatures that we have been having, so everyone was excited to be outside. The water by our house has been frozen for about 3 weeks, so it has been fun watching everyone play hockey and ice skate and we even saw a game of curling going on. After the warmer temperatures, I was not too excited about our kids going out on the ice today, although there were many other people out there. Carli found a big piece of ice and insisted on carrying it all the way home which was about a 30 minute walk! She made it home and was so excited that she now has a huge piece of ice in our backyard. Afterward, she took a really long, really hot bath and I made her a vanilla steamer to drink! Now she is nice and warm. The friends that we had over today are Austrians and it was their first time to our house. Right before they came inside, Cotter asked, "Mama, do they speak English or German?" I said, "German." He thought for a minute, and then asked, "And what language do we speak?"
He is really learning a lot and it is so cute when he mixes the two languages. And Carli and Caleb continue to amaze me every time I hear them speak. I just sit back in awe that in such a short time, my kids are bilingual!
